An obituary on Hazrat Ziaul Huq Qutubuddin
A bright star has fallen off the sky enveloping our little world with darkness and despair. Hazrat Ziaul Huq Qutubuddin, who peacefully breathed his last on 22nd March,2023, was an ordinary person with extraordinary qualities of heart and soul. He was a manifestation of what makes a perfect person, an unwavering believer, dedicated to the services of The almighty Allah swt, and most of all, a true follower of our great prophet Hazrat Muhammad (sm). The mention of the great prophet's name instinctively moistened his eyes and flooded with tears.
Hazrat Qutubuddin was among the few who had absorbed the essence of Islam in Its true colors without any bias. He assembled a vast array of books relating to interpretations of the holy Quran and Hadith and set himself to study these with undivided attention to assimilate the beauty and nuances of Islamic religion. He stood out as an outstanding person with love and compassion for everyone including children who were very close to his heart.
Hazrat Qutubuddin's love for Bangladesh stemmed from the core of his heart. He was strandarded in Pakistan in 1971 following the independence of Bangladesh. He had the option of working in Pakistan, the ancestral home of his family, or Bangladesh, and chose the latter as his preferred home. He followed it up with an extremely risky adventure across the treacherous Hindu Kush mountain range with his family to escape from Pakistan involving arduous trek on foot and mule's back.
While many people in Bangladesh love to hate their own country, he never questioned the comfort of living in Bangladesh with dignity. "Everywhere you go", he used to say,"you find a mosque to say your prayer anytime of the day". He never let his sublime thoughts pollute with greed for money and wealth, and expressed his gratitude to The almighty Allah swt for his endless bounties.
He was also unpretentious about his enviable status as the members of the National Board of revenue and Bangladesh Public Service Commission. He left a rich legacy of professionalism, sincerity and unalloyed honesty wherever he worked.
He was a true torch bearer of his legendary father, Hazrat Maulana Safiullah, the great Saint of Kolkata, and his elder brother, another saintly person, versatile genius and Islamic scholar, popularly known as Boro Bhaia of Shanti Nagar in Dhaka.
We pray to the almighty Allah for salvation of his noble soul and grant of best place in the heaven above.
